CFA seeks student input about their experience with discrimination, harassment and retaliation at Cal Poly Humboldt
Press release provided by CFA
The law firm Cozen O’Connor is seeking community feedback about campus culture at Cal Poly Humboldt and the institution’s “training, awareness, prevention, intervention, compliance, and support systems” as they relate to CSU Policy Prohibiting Discrimination, Harassment, Sexual Misconduct, Sexual Exploitation, Dating Violence, Domestic Violence, Stalking, and Retaliation. They are investigating CPH policies regarding gendered and sexualized violence (Title IX) and racial and other forms of discrimination (DHR). Note that DHR refers to discrimination, harassment, and retaliation based on “Age, Disability (physical and mental), Gender (or sex), Gender Identity (including nonbinary and transgender), Gender Expression, Genetic Information, Marital Status, Medical Condition, Nationality, Race or Ethnicity (including color, caste, or ancestry), Religion (or religious creed), Sexual Orientation, Veteran or Military Status.”
The investigators need to hear from faculty, staff, and students. Survey responses are to be submitted by February 14, 2023. This survey is anonymous and confidential and only the Cozen O’Connor lawyers hired to investigate the university will receive the survey responses. The survey is available now at this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Cal_Poly_Humboldt
O’Connor will review all comments received to identify aggregate themes and concerns that help to inform their assessment to be presented as a report to the CPH/CSU administrators. Any comments in the report will be used without attribution.
To share information privately with the investigatory team, please contact Cozen O’Connor directly at CalStateReview@cozen.com. A virtual meeting may set up with them and/or share insights via email.
The California Faculty Association (CFA) is committed to making sure that any working groups, task forces and committees convened as a result of this report include wide CFA, faculty, and student representation.
