Centro del Pueblo to host an online public meeting Friday on COVID-19

Centro Del Pueblo, a Latinx organization in Humboldt County, will be hosting an online town hall meeting in English and Spanish on April 3 at 6 p.m. to discuss COVID-19.

Organizers hope this meeting will start a dialogue within the local community that addresses the needs of those left vulnerable during the pandemic.

For this meeting, the organization asks that neighbors and friends communicate with each other ahead of time in order to bring forth any questions or concerns during the meeting.

Brenda Perez, one of the main organizers of the event, said this meeting will help undocumented families find information on labor rights, rent relief and other things like creating a community fund that will go towards families in need.

“We would like to clarify some of the information about COVID-19 and what families can do during this time,” Perez said.

The community can participate through any of these methods:

  • Zoom: use the online application called Zoom by clicking the following link https://humboldtstate.zoom.us/j/362744468
  • Telephone: If there is an issue with internet connection there is also the option of calling in at +1 253 215 8782 and entering the Meeting ID: 362 744 468#

“[The meeting] is to find among all of us, a way to help,” Perez said. “To try new methods, organize and work.”
