No charges filed in the death of David Josiah Lawson

A Criminal Grand Jury in the stabbing death of David Josiah Lawson declined to indict anyone, announced Humboldt County District Attorney’s office late afternoon Wednesday.

The DA sent out a press release today that said no charges will be filed in the case. On Feb. 28, a jury convened to address the stabbing death of Josiah. The jury received testimony from 25 witnesses including experts in forensics and DNA. By law, the process included the opportunity for the Grand Jury to subpoena evidence and witnesses.

The DA’s office notified the Lawson family on the case decision.

Humboldt State University notified the campus community of the case’s findings and President Lisa Rossbacher issued a statement.

The university community will be available to offer support in Jolly Giant Commons from 7-11 p.m. this evening, according to the President’s statement members.

For students, staff and faculty there is additional support and assistance available for those who may need it.
